Noi di Koinervetti seguiamo ed inseguiamo da parecchio Roberto Mercadini: poeta parlante, laureato in ingegneria elettronica ma con la passione per il palcoscenico su cui però il più delle volte divulga e spiega a fondo fatti e nozioni scientifici e artistici. Da alcuni anni carica parte dei suoi monologhi anche su YouTube, innalzando indubbiamente il livello di qualità della piattaforma.
Questo sabato era a Forlimpopoli con lo spettacolo intitolato “Se fossi la tua ombra mi allungherei a mezzogiorno”, in cui affronta quattro coppie di fatti storici, documentati più o meno accuratamente, uniti dal filo rosso dell’errore.
Ad ogni errore “ancestrale” ecco dunque associarsi uno “storico”, accomunati da ulteriori caratteristiche, ma tutti col fine di far comprendere agli spettatori che ciò che si pone davanti a noi come un ostacolo può permetterci di trovare nuovi spunti ed energie per superarlo.
Ecco così la nascita della Luna assieme alla lotta di Galileo contro le autorità del suo tempo o l’ameboide che mangiò il cianobatterio senza più poterlo espellere e Fosco Maraini durante la sua prigionia in Giappone.
E poi ancora gli organismi marittimi che si adattarono alla vita fuori dall’acqua e crearono la vita sulla terra e Michelangelo alle prese con la Cappella Sistina per poi finire con la storia del vero ominide più antico mai ritrovato.
A fine spettacolo Roberto Mercadini ha trovato ancora energie e gentilezza per concederci il tempo di un’intervista.

Innanzitutto com’è nata questa passione che varia dalla poesia alla narrazione e sfocia poi nella divulgazione?
Ci sono due elementi: il primo è che da bambino nel paese dove ancora oggi abito, Sala di Cesenatico, si facevano delle recite nel teatro della parrocchia; io ero molto timido, timidissimo, ma quando salivo sul palco mi sentivo libero di esprimermi come se il recitare fosse una maschera che mi proteggesse. Raccontavo barzellette, le persone ridevano, un po’ più avanti arrivai poi a preparare le scenette ed era una cosa che mi dava una gioia enorme.
L’altro elemento è che io amavo la poesia; quando ero adolescente al liceo mi sono accorto che leggevo quasi esclusivamente poesie, solo che le poesie io le volevo recitare! Insomma: non scrivevo poesie come un qualcosa che fosse pubblicato ma con la speranza di recitarle di fronte a delle persone.
Il pubblico come reagisce ai suoi spettacoli in teatro? Ad esempio quando guardiamo i suoi video su YouTube rimaniamo sempre ammaliati dalle storie che racconta.
Questa è davvero l’energia che mi permette di recitare. Io sento il pubblico, sento le risate e gli applausi ma non solo: sento anche il silenzio che s’intensifica quando c’è un momento di commozione, di tensione (ad esempio quando racconto di Fosco Maraini).
L’attenzione del pubblico mi costringe alla concentrazione e a mettere tutto il mio impegno in ciò che faccio. Al contrario mi è capitato in passato di avere persone distratte, maleducate e/o che parlassero durante gli spettacoli e allora io stesso mi distraevo e mi smontavo.
Quando invece le persone sono attente tu dai e senti di dover dare il meglio di te. È come se si creasse un dialogo, anche se può apparire un controsenso: dico sempre che il monologo si fa insieme, chi è fra il pubblico fa lo spettacolo assieme a chi è sul palco.
A proposito di YouTube, uno dei suoi video che hanno riscosso maggior successo ed è diventato virale è quello sulla mela, o quello sulla palla da biliardo. Come li ha pensati e come ne spiega la diffusione?
Il pezzo della mela è un piccola parte di un monologo che avevo fatto in precedenza, tutto sul cibo e le piante. Ma era debole e l’ho riscritto e messo a posto in seguito. Un sabato sera, prima di andare a letto, ho trovato quella mela gialla sul tavolo della cucina e mi son detto: “Ma sai cosa faccio domani? Un video col pezzettino della mela”.
Il perché sia diventato virale me lo sono chiesto e mi son dato questa risposta basata su due motivazioni: c’è un messaggio, che è quello di esser se stessi, unici. Osare, anche pazzamente, d’esser diversi dagli altri . Questo fa sì che le persone siano state invogliate a condividerlo, anche perché Facebook permette ed invita a condividere, a differenza di Youtube. Ad oggi è stato condiviso 10.000 volte.
L’altro elemento è che io per 11 minuti ti dico cose che tu non sai su una cosa che tu reputi banale come la mela e ti rendono basito. Questa è la meraviglia di ciò che tu ignori su qualcosa che hai sotto gli occhi quotidianamente.
L’altro [Attenti agli androidi! n.d.r] è un video con un altro messaggio, non d’incoraggiamento o motivazionale, diciamo di denuncia. Anche se con un lato positivo ovvero non che siamo spacciati ma dobbiamo esser all’altezza della nostra tecnologia: dobbiamo evolvere come fa questa!
Inoltre c’è questo elemento delle informazioni sulla plastica abbastanza sorprendenti, ovvero sappiamo che inquina ma in realtà è nata come materiale ecologico, addirittura per salvare gli elefanti.
Rizzoli ha ristampato quattro volte il suo libro “Storia perfetta dell’errore” da cui sono state tratte più parti dello spettacolo di questa sera. Com’è nato e come si spiega questo successo?
Il libro è una conferma dello spirito del contenuto: racconto tutte storie in cui un ostacolo diviene occasione di crescita.
Io avevo intenzione di scriverlo come un prolungamento dello spettacolo, colmo solo di storie che avrebbero superato le 8 rappresentate sul palco. Ma la mia editor m’ha proposto di fare un romanzo perché questo tipo di narrativa ha più corso, si vendono di più.
Questo per me, che non avevo mai scritto romanzi né inventato personaggi, è stato un grosso ostacolo anche perché ho dovuto inventarmi il modo di trasformare in lettere d’amore quelli che sono racconti abbastanza atipici.
Ho davvero fatto il mio sforzo di uscire dall’acqua per andare sulla terra ferma ma credo che il libro come l’avevo pensato io, ovvero più facile per me da scrivere, non avrebbe avuto poi questo successo che ha ripagato appieno lo sforzo.
Sempre parlando del modo in cui vengono concepite le sue storie, ritiene che aver avuto una formazione da ingegnere elettronico abbia influito sul modo, molto scientifico, in cui si si sviluppa la sua trattazione?
Credo di dover molto alla mia formazione scientifica perché creo i miei monologhi in modo il più possibile ordinato, sequenziale, in cui ogni frase che dico ha un senso ed è collegata ad ogni altra.
Io procedo in un certo senso con l’ordine con cui programmavo, con cui si progettano di norma le cose…

Beh, così su due piedi direi, perché no, proprio “Il Tao della fisica” come libro, “Million Dollar Baby” di Clint Eastwood come film e per disco “Fisherman’s Woman” di Emilíana Torrini, che a dispetto del nome è una cantautrice islandese.
Non mi resta per tanto che “augurarvi” di leggere, vedere e ascoltare tutto ciò che Roberto Mercadini produce; la sua passione saprà sicuramente coinvolgervi e spingervi a cercare, sapere e scoprire sempre di più. Roberto è come una mappa del tesoro “imperfetta”, che magari farà l’errore di non indicarvi immediatamente dove scavare ma vi accompagnerà alla scoperta delle meraviglie che rischiereste di perdervi col tragitto più breve.
