Il 7 settembre si è svolto al Parco Roccolo il Closing Party, ovvero l’ultima serata di questa stagione. L’evento ha visto protagonista un artista emergente, il cui nome è Niccolò Garro, alias Rosso Malpelo. Il gruppo di Koinervetti ci ha scambiato quattro chiacchiere e questo è quello che ci ha raccontato, buona lettura!
K: Ciao Niccolò, come stai?
R: Molto bene, sono molto contento di essere qui al Parco Roccolo. Andrea e i ragazzi dell’associazione Alice sono due anni che mi supportano, mi hanno sempre trattato bene e venire sempre qui mi fa sempre piacere. La serata è andata stra bene e quindi non posso dire altro che “sono contentissimo”.
K: Parliamo dell’ultimo album di Rosso Malpelo, ovvero “Prologo”: ci potresti raccontare la storia di questo disco e le tematiche su cui ruota?
R: Se devo essere sincero, Prologo è stato un parto veramente doloroso. Lo è stato per svariate ragioni: la prima perché il disco è stato concepito in un periodo non molto sereno per me, della mia vita privata e quindi mi sono buttato a capofitto su questo lavoro. Il problema è che questo disco l’ho registrato tra il 2016 e il 2017. Ero completamente inesperto, ci sono stati un sacco di errori, ho speso più del previsto, quindi è stato un lavoro molto difficile da tirare fuori, molto faticoso, che però, se vogliamo guardare il lato positivo, mi ha insegnato un sacco di cose. Mi ha insegnato come costruire un album, l’economia che ci sta dietro.
D’altra parte invece sono soddisfattissimo perché ha ricevuto una risposta incredibile, nel giro di pochissimo tempo sono arrivato a ricevere numeri che, per una persona che non ha etichetta discografica, agenzia di stampa e neanche conoscenza su come promuoverlo, sono importanti, per esempio la mia canzone Barcellona ha ricevuto 5000 ascolti. È stato del tutto inaspettato e questa cosa mi ha spronato ad andare avanti. Le tematiche del disco sono innumerevoli, diciamo che io non mi concentro a parlare di me stesso, perché non ne sento il bisogno, tranne nel caso di Barcellona che parla di una mia esperienza personale.
Per quanto riguarda il mio “background culturale” mi riesce meglio parlare di altre cose, come il riscatto sulle donne in Marta in Pinocchio parlo dell’ignoranza postata in stile Bennato, in Ninna Nanna, che non ho eseguito stasera, ho voluto immaginare una mamma del medio oriente che canta a questa bambina questa ninna nanna, questo è il prologo.
K: Nella tua esperienza come Rosso Malpelo con quali tuoi colleghi hai avuto modo di condividere il palco?
R: Si parla più che altro di artisti minori, nulla di grosso. Le cose più grosse sono state due occasioni in cui ho aperto il concerto ai Pinguini Tattici Nucleari, ma era il periodo in cui stavano esplodendo. Altri momenti invece, dove ci siamo incontrati anche fuori dal palco, sono gli Eugenio in via di gioia, che sono un’altra band come i Pinguini che conosco personalmente, anche lì ho organizzato concerti insieme a loro in Piemonte. Di recente invece ho conosciuto le band Le Cose Importanti e gli Atlante. Ho avuto modo di conoscerli fuori dal palco qui al Parco Roccolo ed è stato/é bello passarci delle serate insieme e chiaccherare.
K: Per quanto riguarda i progetti futuri?
R: Per quanto riguarda il futuro adesso è un po’ incerto, perché essendo l’unico finanziatore del progetto purtroppo mi devo fare i conti in tasca e realizzare attualmente un album è costoso. Ho fatto uscire un singolo a maggio, perché ho avuto la possibilità di registrarlo e pubblicarlo gratuitamente, quindi diciamo che ora sto arrangiano dei nuovi brani, perché è anche quello che vorrei fare nella vita: arrangiare brani Pop, Rock, insieme a Lorenzo Angelucci che è il chitarrista e leader del mio gruppo di sopporto Le volpi di Bologna.
Stiamo arrangiando molto e ci piacciono i risultati, e attualmente mi sto guardando in giro per cercare produttori e etichette che mi possano dare una mano a livello economico. Molto spesso i contratti che ti vengono proposti sono cose che puoi fare tranquillamente da solo, sto lavorando più che altro in questo versante. In più in autunno farò delle date prettamente in acustico, perché è più facile girare e anche perché sta cambiando la line-up della band e quindi bisogna reimpostare i live, c’è molta roba in cantiere ma ancora non è tutto definitivo.
K: Un’altra domanda: hai hai detto che il tuo background culturale non ti porta a parlare di te stesso. Cosa significa?
R: Il fatto è che io mi sono sempre sentito un ragazzo fortunato. Sia a livello economico, sia a livello sociale, ho sempre avuto una vita felice, certo, ho avuto anche momenti in cui ero in difficoltà, però nel complesso ho una vita serena quindi non ho nulla di cui parlare su questo, a parte quei rari casi quando mi ha lasciato la mia ex, oppure in Barcellona. Una mia fortuna è che ho sempre avuto una famiglia che mi ha spinto ad essere libero e di avere una mente aperta e critica, quindi io mi sono sempre spinto appassionandomi anche di attualità, leggo tanto, mi interesso del mondo che mi circonda.
