Temi amorosi, giochi di parole, storie incredibili, e anche un po’ di cinismo, sezionando rapporti esauriti, rende il clima di questo album molto urbano, come si può intendere anche dalla copertina del disco. Assolutamente più curato rispetto al precedente, questo disco vede Dente alle prese con una consapevolezza cantautorale che affonda palesemente le sue radici nella tradizione popolare italiana, ma ciò nonostante c’è anche un pizzico di personalità, con alcuni momenti nei brani dove non si prende sul serio.

Con i suoi 13 brani L’amore non è bello si presenta davvero molto godibile: uno sviluppo scorrevole dove l’ascoltatore percorre gli attimi, le situazioni, le conseguenze o (per meglio dire), le parti in cui il personaggio si sente sotto pressione e in ansia. Si vive tutto quanto come se lo stessi vivendo tu. Un’abilità nella scrittura di canzoni dal pronto impatto melodico, ma soprattutto nella parte strumentale.
In questo disco Dente lo vediamo nei panni non solo di chitarrista ma anche di pianista, oltre ad ospitare musicisti di alto livello come Enrico Gabrielli nelle orchestrazioni e fiati, Fabio Dondelli e Andrea Abeni (Annie Hall) e addirittura Vasco Brondi. Forse, in queste canzoni si sente tanto l’impatto alla Lucio Battisti e/o Ivan Graziani, ma state certi che l’impronta personale si sente, anche perché Dente si è fatto veramente apprezzare anche per le sue canzoni d’amore all’incontrario “sapessi che piacere che mi dà l’idea di non vederti più”. Il canticchiare tipo “tuturutu” in La Presunta Santità di Irene, le sfumature musicali anni ’60/’70 di A Me Piace Lei o addirittura qualche somiglianza alla Franco Battiato nella canzone Parlando Di Lei a Te. Un album che ripercorre tutta la musica italiana cantautorale, acustica, pop e chi ne ha più ne metta.
