Per Dante corrispondeva al “mezzo del cammin di nostra vita”. Per Fleming il punto da cui l’uomo iniziava a interrogarsi su tempo, salute e natura. Conrad vi identificava il superamento della “linea d’ombra”. Proprio con quest’ultima citazione Guido Barbieri ha introdotto l’edizione con cui il Premio Pieve Saverio Tutino raggiunge la sua maturità.
Fin da 1985 l’associazione, legata al Piccolo Museo del Diario, archivio di oltre 8000 raccolte biografiche di cittadini italiani, s’impegna per dare luce e risalto alle opere donate dagli autori stessi o dai loro eredi affinché non vadano perse quelle testimonianze di memoria più che storia.
Perché come insegna il professor Barbero “la Storia è complessa”. Un insieme di più eventi dettati a volte da azioni e progettazioni che rimangono celate ai più. Però a noi rimane la Memoria, ovvero la visione diretta del popolo di quella vita che accadeva e passava sotto ad i suoi occhi. Questa ci può così aiutare a comprendere meglio non tanto i tasselli che hanno composto lo scorrere dei tempi fino ai giorni nostri, quanto l’evoluzione ed i mutamenti delle mentalità e dei pensieri delle generazioni che ci hanno preceduto.
Molti diari, una storia
Hanno presenziato a questa edizione del Premio coloro che hanno consegnato i diari al museo il cui divario generazionale andava dalla giovanissima Maria Antonietta Giannone, alla veneranda età di Teresa Pacetti, diretta autrice delle sue memorie narrate dall’infanzia in epoca fascista fino al ’60. Erano presenti dai figli degli autori a persone il cui grado di parentela poteva dirsi ormai inesistente. Fra tutti sono riemerse maggiori emozioni con i casi di Michelle Bassanesi, nipote di una coppia di anarchici pacifisti divisi in manicomi durante gli anni ’40 (da cui il marito Giovanni non uscirà mai vivo) e di Ada Ascari, che scoprirà solo dopo la morte del padre Adler la relazione di questi con una misteriosa signora M. I due intrattennero un rapporto epistolare raccolto in oltre 200 lettere.
I racconti finalisti per il premio sono stati letti in piazza Plinio Pellegrini dai talentuosi Mario Perrotta e Paola Roscioli. Sono stati accompagnati dall’essenziale orchestra di Vanni Crociani (piano e fisarmonica) e Giacomo Toschi (sax). Questi racconti ci permettono di venire a conoscenza delle vicende di personaggi le cui esistenze possono esser definite “al di fuori del comune”, più per le loro gesta piuttosto che per merito delle origini. Gente comune: chi proveniente da famiglie benestanti, chi costretti a migrare per sopravvivere chi ha vissuto la Grande Guerra in una trincea, chi ha scampato la Seconda per sostenere la famiglia povera, chi è venuto a stretto contatto con culture tanto diverse quanto lontane da quella italiana e chi invece ha dovuto subire sulla propria pelle l’assoggettamento dovuto al proprio genere rimanendo in patria.
Il Diario vincitore, un premio per le donne
Proprio Eugenia Dal Bò, nata nel 1867 (definita per questo Figlia del Risorgimento), è risultata l’autrice dello scritto vincitore. Con la sua determinazione, che l’ha prima spinta ad esser l’unica donna a conseguire la Laurea in Lettere a Napoli (non potendo poi divenire professoressa per le leggi dell’epoca) e che l’ha poi portata a intraprendere la missione di crocerossina per essere più vicina al marito durante la Guerra del ’15-’18, ha poi restituito queste esperienze nelle sue memorie, inserite tra i partecipanti al premio.
La tenacia ed il coraggio di questa donna sono state le motivazioni, prese come monito per tutte le future generazioni di donne e ragazze, che hanno spinto la giuria a conferirle il premio, consistente in una pubblicazione degli scritti sotto forma di volume. Purtroppo non era presente sul palco nessun discendente delle signora Del Bò, rappresentata dalla professoressa dell’università di Siena Maria Rosa Acri Borello, ma a fine dell’evento l’organizzazione è riuscita a mettere la piazza in contatto telefonico con l’ultima discendente rimasta.
L’incontro con il Maestro
Ospite speciale di questa edizione del Premio è stato Pupi Avati, il quale ha da poco spento le 50 candeline nel mondo della settima arte e che col suo stile, caratterizzato dalle ambientazioni di provincia e dal collocamento temporale in un passato recente, personifica l’essenza della manifestazione. Il suo monologo di un quarto d’ora, in cui tiene benissimo il palco dimostrando un lucidissima e fervida mente nonostante quell’età sulla quale ancora ironizza, si presenta come un’ode a quelle sconfitte che hanno costellato la sua vita e dalle quali riconosce di aver appreso di più che dalle vittorie, come un pugile battuto sul ring che passerà notti in bianco a meditare e rendersi conto di tutti gli errori che hanno portato al tragico risultato.
La vita come un uovo
Le sue considerazioni lo hanno portato a descrivere la vita come un ovale, la cui partenza è collocata nell’estremo punto inferiore, da cui il bambino inizierà il suo percorso in cui non esiste alcun concetto temporale al di fuori del “sempre”. Tutto deve ancora venire e mentre s’impara a camminare, muoversi ed amare non si ha una chiara visione del futuro. Ne segue la giovinezza con l’apprendimento del relazionarsi con chi ci circonda e di altri concetti. Ci diviene chiaro che il “sempre” non esiste e iniziamo a prendere un posto nella società grazie al mestiere e le capacità che abbiamo assimilato lungo il nostro tragitto formativo.
È alla fine di questo periodo che incappiamo nel “punto di scollinamento”, come Avati lo definisce prendendo in prestito un’espressione dal gergo della cultura contadina. Alla nostra mente giunge un’epifania sul fatto che il meglio che la vita potesse offrirci è risieduto in tutto ciò che ormai è passato. Inizia così l’età adulta che, in contrasto con le due fasi precedenti, vede una traiettoria discendente. Non solo per la perdita di speranza nell’avvenire, ma anche dettata dalla dimenticanza che si può mascherare all’inizio grazie alla professionalità imparate nella fase antecedente. Si inizia sempre più a guardare con nostalgia alla Giovinezza.
Avati ricorda che il proprio personale scollinamento avvenne a Rimini mentre lavorava per un programma Rai. Il non riuscire più a leggere la sera lo rese partecipe del fatto che avesse bisogno di un paio d’occhiali. Non riusciva a capacitarsi che il suo corpo non rispondesse più alle esigenze della sua mente, al suo volere.
“Iniziava una cerimonia di addii col mio Io”
Fenomenologia della vecchiaia
Infine, la Vecchiaia ci riporta e ricollega all’Infanzia, con quella diretta nostalgia che la contrassegna. Si vuole tornare bambini, figli, ormai sopraffatti dalle recalcitranze del fisico. Aumentano le affinità col bambino che si è stati tanto che subentra nuovamente l’idea del “per sempre” che pareva ormai cancellata dalla ragione. Vecchi e bambini si assomigliano anche per quella qualità che crea indissolubili legami che è la Vulnerabilità. Le persone più straordinarie sono quelle più fragili, con tutti i loro dubbi, incertezze e sensi d’inadeguatezza che ne plasmano gli animi. Coloro i quali sono capaci di emozionarsi, fremere e soffrire con un niente.
L’anzianità ci riporta ad essere fragili, ad imparare, riconoscere e convivere con le nostre emozioni, paure e debolezze e tutto ciò non può che renderci persone migliori “se non sei un deficiente” [ironizza]. Ciò che una vita ci porta quasi in automatico a nascondere andrebbe invece protetto. Avati sostiene che, tra gli attori con cui ha collaborato, i più dotati e capaci di dare personalità e identità ai personaggi sono coloro i quali hanno avuto problemi ed incontrato solo salite nella vita.
Quelle salite che non ti lasceranno mai di dire “il meglio è passato”. Quelle salite che ti permetteranno sempre di imparare qualcosa di più.
