Un disco che fonde influenze Metalcore/Deathcore, anche Djent se vogliamo, con una buona aggiunta di musica elettronica, come Retrowave, Pop e House. Un album talmente vario di suoni e idee che c’è solo l’imbarazzo della scelta, credetemi.
È una musica nuova quella di Stay. Un sound diverso dal precedente Deeper Than Hell, disco del 2017 che presentava momenti di puro Deathcore come Dio comanda e situazioni in cui la musica diventava malinconica grazie alle tastiere, synth e alla voce di Giorgio Della Posta insieme a quella drammatica di Sara Mun. In Stay invece, ci sono tante novità: Alessandro Cirlinci, secondo e nuovo chitarrista e dei featuring tutti al femminile. Figurano nomi come Livia Bellisario, Isabella Maffei, Sabrina Pizziconi e ovviamente la loro storica Sara Mun che ormai collabora con la band da qualche anno.

I brani
Il disco si apre con la title track, un sound molto retro anni ’90, che lascia con il fiato sospeso, mentre i due vocalist creano l’attesa. Infine un’esplosione come nello stile dei POA, chitarre distorte ma che hanno quel filo drammatico, mentre tutto è accompagnato da un canto speranzoso.
Eyes Wide Shut, si presenta come una canzone Metalcore con ritmi Djent, ma il tutto è condito con orchestrazioni e cori femminili, un brano molto particolare di cui solo l’ascolto può rendere l’idea. Il brano si conclude con un bellissimo assolo e distorsioni pesantissime, per poi aprire le danze al terzo pezzo: Your Shadow Walks With Me. Chitarra acustica che poi scompare per dare spazio all’elettronica e al Metal. Il brano ha momenti elevatissimi di puro Prog Metal moderno e parti elettroniche come gli ultimi Bring Me The Horizon, e altri di riflessione in cantato femminile, un ottimo pezzo di cui consiglio vivamente l’ascolto.
Passiamo ora a Faded Lights, traccia dove la concentrazione è completamente rivolta sulle ritmiche Deathcore, con tanto di synth che rende melodico il pezzo.
Continuiamo la nostra scalata, addentriamoci in Midnight, la canzone più particolare del disco, dalle tonalità molto New Wave anni ’80. I POA in questo brano sono riusciti ad amalgamare due stili completamente diversi, due generi che fanno parte di due epoche differenti, riuscendo però a trovare un filo che tiene unito tutto quanto alla perfezione, senza forzature e note di troppo.
Completamente elettronica invece è la seguente Colorblind, il brano può essere un intermezzo del disco anche se dura circa 4 minuti, ma troviamo tante chicche a riguardo. Sfumature di elettronica dei primi anni 2000, momenti Trap, parti Dance, una parte breve cantata in autotune e situazioni sul Metal in alcuni punti. Un brano che potrebbe far accapponare la pelle al metallaro più puro, ma se siete persone che hanno un’apertura mentale riguardo alla musica moderna, potrete apprezzarlo senza problemi.
Passiamo ora a Our Song, che non si discosta molto dai precedenti ascolti. Deathcore a manetta, Elettronica e tutto quello che ci serve per un ascolto scorrevole ed omogeneo. Disappear invece, nonché il primissimo singolo che anticipava il disco, è un pezzo in pieno stile POA.
